KEY POINTS:
NAPIER - A man charged after an axe was allegedly brandished at two police officers in a Napier street early on Sunday morning was denied bail when he appeared in court today.
Junior Hawea Marsh, 22, of Napier, faced two charges of assault with a weapon when he appeared before Judge Oke Blaikie in Napier District Court.
Bail was sought on his behalf by duty solicitor Nigel Hewat, and oppossed by police prosecutor Sergeant John Ashfield.
Marsh was not asked to plead to the charges and was remanded in custody to appear in the court again on Wednesday.
