A man charged with manslaughter in relation to the death of another man at an Auckland house party has appeared in court this morning.
The 22-year-old was arrested last night following the death of 25-year-old Reginald Sharma in Mt Roskill last weekend.
The man charged appeared briefly at the Auckland District Court this morning and was remanded in custody.
He entered no plea.
His lawyer asked for interim name suppression, which was granted, and he is due back in court on September 15.
The charged man said nothing as he stood in the dock.
But as he left the courtroom, he turned towards the public gallery and acknowledged family members with a kiss to his hand.
The circumstances of Sharma's death have not yet been made public.
Sharma was among guests at a party on Haughey Ave, in Mt Roskill, late last week. He died in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Earlier this week, friends paid tribute to him and it was revealed he and his partner were expecting a child together.
