Man in court on 2001 rape charge

An Auckland man appeared in the district court yesterday on kidnapping and rape charges stemming from an alleged sex attack in the city in 2001.

Pop Tanupou Ahulelei, 33, was remanded in custody to today.

Ahulelei is accused of snatching a woman in the city, taking her to the Parnell Rose Gardens and raping her.
