A 48-year-old Porirua man was remanded in custody when he appeared in Wellington District Court today charged with the murder of his wife.
The 42-year-old woman died in a pool of blood outside the Mobil Mart Service Station in the Wellington suburb of Johnsonville, just before midnight on Saturday.
The man was granted interim name suppression for one week as his wife's family in Samoa had not yet all been told of her death.
No bail application was made by defence lawyer Mike Antunovic.
The man is due to reappear in court on April 30.
