A man is due to appear at Masterton District Court today over the shooting of a 50-year-old Masterton man in the Wairarapa town at the weekend.
Police and armed offenders squad members raided two properties in Masterton and Eketahuna, 36km north of Masterton, and arrested a man in relation to the shooting on Saturday.
The accused man faced a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, Sergeant Graeme Reisima of Masterton police said.
Police were continuing to search for a 30-year-old man in connection with the shooting and a shotgun.
The victim, who has not been named, was fired at with a shotgun while in his car outside his house about 4pm on Saturday, Mr Reisima said.
The victim, who had injuries to a shoulder and arm, drove himself to Masterton Hospital immediately after he was shot, and later discharged himself.
Police said the shooting appeared to be over a dispute with two other men whom he knew.
Mr Reisima said details of the dispute were "sketchy" because the victim was reluctant to talk about it.
