A former soldier who attacked an army recruitment hall with a digger is to be sentenced on May 25.
Puhirere Mita, 40, appeared in Gisborne District Court today after pleading guilty to a charge of wilful damage.
Judge James Rota remanded Mita on bail for reports from the probation and mental health services.
Mita was arrested after he drove the digger into the recruitment hall on February 22, causing thousands of dollars of damage.
Gisborne police said Mita had hired the digger, which was delivered to his home.
After the hall was damaged, Mita then drove to the police station and handed himself in.
There was nobody in the hall at the time of the attack.
