A man accused of stabbing triple-murderer William Bell was today remanded to reappear in court in January.
The man, who was granted interim name suppression, was remanded until January 17 for a pre-depositions hearing in North Shore District Court.
He is charged with wounding Bell with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Bell was attacked last week while in a recreation room at Auckland Prison's Paremoremo maximum-security facility.
He received head injuries and was stabbed in the eye, and remains under heavy guard at Auckland Hospital.
Bell is serving a life sentence with a non-parole period of 30 years for killing three people at the Mt Wellington-Panmure Returned Services Association in 2001.
