Man in coma after assault

A 19-year-old Papakura man is in a coma after he was seriously assaulted in Auckland early Friday morning last week.

The victim sustained serious head injuries and was taken to hospital in a critical condition following the incident on Jolson Road in Mt Wellington about 3.20am.

He was operated on that night to relieve the swelling in his brain and continues to be in a drug-induced coma at Auckland Hospital.

The assault followed an altercation with the occupants of two passing vehicles.

Police are seeking information to help identify and locate the multiple occupants of the vehicles involved in the assault.

One of the vehicles is described as a green or dark coloured Subaru station-wagon.
