Porirua police are investigating an assault which left a 30-year-old man hospitalised with head injuries last night.
A confrontation between two groups occurred near the intersection of Bedford street and Northumberland street, Cannons Creek, at approximately 10.45pm.
A number of men stopped in a vehicle near the intersection and attacked at least one person from a neighbouring house.
It is believed that a weapon was used during the attack.
The vehicle has been described as a dark coloured Nissan Skyline. Police believe the vehicle may have had a window broken during the incident.
