A man is in hospital with serious injuries after a hit and run in the West Auckland suburb of Te Atatu.
Inspector Andrew Brill said the man was hit by a car while out walking at 10pm. He said the car did not stop.
Sergeant Stu Kearns of the serious crash unit said police have found the car and are speaking to a group of people.
He said he could not say if any arrests had been made this morning.
Mr Kearns said the car is a four door, burgundy, Honda Accord.
He said anyone who saw the vehicle in the Te Atatu area should call Henderson police on (09) 839 0600
