Police are hunting a man who held up a Wellington bank with a threatening note.
Detective Sergeant Donna Howard, of Wellington CIB, said a man entered the Bank of New Zealand in Riddiford St, Newtown about 12pm today.
He milled around for about five minutes before approaching a teller and handing over a threatening note.
The teller gave the man a quantity of money, Ms Howard said.
He was last seen running up Rintoul Street, Newtown.
The man is about 20-25 years old.
He was described as Maori or Polynesian, of slim build, clean shaven, with short, thick dark hair.
He was wearing tan or beige trousers, a dark jersey with a white tee-shirt underneath, a black baseball cap with a white design on front, black sun glasses and white shoes with black laces and dark soles.
Police want to speak to anyone who sees the man or knows who he might be.
