Man has serious injuries after machete attack

A man is in hospital with serious head injuries after being assaulted with a machete in Papakura.

Inspector Kerry Watson, of the police northern communications centre, said the assault happened this morning at a residential property in Cargill St.

The man has been taken to Middlemore Hospital with serious head injuries and a man is in police custody, Mr Watson said.

Police are still at the scene and inquiries are continuing.

No further details were immediately available.
