A Mt Maunganui man has been missing for two days after telling his family he would be home from a walk in an hour.
Police say they are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of Stephen Michael Tracey, 37, who was last seen at Mt Maunganui about 5pm on Saturday.
He told his family he was going for a walk and would be returning in about an hour, but has not been seen since.
Mr Tracey did not take his wallet or phone with him, which police said was out of character.
Police have carried out a number of searches and inquiries with help from the Mt Maunganui Surf Lifesaving Club and local search and rescue volunteers.
