A motorist has surrendered to police after a hit and run in west Auckland two days ago left a man badly injured.
The 20-year-old victim is in hospital with serious head injuries after a car mounted a footpath in suburban Massey and struck about 6pm on Wednesday.
The car sped off leaving the victim lying on the footpath.
Police said today a 52-year-old man went to police last night and now faces driving charges.
He was due to appear in Waitakere District Court today.
The victim was reported to be in a stable condition today.
