A man accused of shaking a four-week-old baby has been granted name suppression.
The 20-year-old Papakura man entered no plea when he appeared in Manukau District Court charged with assault.
He was granted name suppression until his next appearance on November 16.
Police said the baby was admitted to Auckland's Starship Hospital with head injuries consistent with shaken baby syndrome.
The baby remains in a critical but stable condition.
Police have said further charges were possible should the child's condition change.
