A man has died after being found with stab wounds in Greymouth in the early hours of this morning.
The 41-year-old man was found with critical injuries on Cowper St about 2am, and died shortly after in Grey Base Hospital.
West Coast area commander Inspector Mel Aitken said a 17-year-old man was helping police with their inquiries into the death.
"I am confident there is no risk to our community as a result of swift actions of our staff and assistance from the public," Aitken said.
"We would like to speak to anybody that may have witnessed a late 1990 red Toyota Corolla travelling in the Greymouth township in the early hours of Monday morning."
