A man who was found with gunshot wounds in west Auckland last night is in custody and under guard in Auckland Hospital after allegedly shooting himself in the leg.
The 32-year-old man received surgery to his leg injuries last night.
Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.
The man was discovered by a passing police patrol on the Great North Rd, Henderson, around 6.30pm.
A scene examination took place last night, closing the road for around two hours.
