A Hamilton man who drove off from a confrontation with another man sitting on his car bonnet before he fell off has been found guilty of manslaughter.
William Ashton Thompson has been on trial at the High Court at Hamilton for the past week for the manslaughter of Warren Deane, 42, and an additional charge of dangerous driving causing death.
The pair had a confrontation after Mr Deane saw 63-year-old Thompson dumping a bag of rubbish opposite the Brookfield Accommodation complex on Dey St on October 6 last year.
Deane climbed onto the bonnet of the car but fell off after the vehicle travelled 440m. He died in hospital five days later from a traumatic brain injury.
A jury of five women and six men took four hours to deliberate over the verdict.
