Man found dead with duct tape around mouth

Police are investigating the death of a man found near Nelson last night with duct tape wrapped around his mouth.

Michael James McGrath, 51, a sickness beneficiary, was found at a Motueka house, said Detective John Nicholls.

Police were not yet sure how or why the insulation tape came to be around the man's mouth.

A post-mortem would be held today and police were speaking to occupants of a house, Mr Nicholls said.
