KEY POINTS:
Police are trying to identify an elderly man found dead on the side on a road in Auckland this morning.
A bus driver found the man on the side of Porchester Road in Papakura about 8am, Senior Sergeant Spencer Matthews said. There were no suspicious circumstances, he said.
The man did not have any identification on him and had not been reported missing.
He was a dark-skinned man, aged 50-60 years old, about 1.75 metres tall, slight build, bald with dentures.
He was wearing a green fishing hat, blue t-shirt, dark shorts and black clogs.
"Police believe that he is local and hope that someone will recognise the description so his family can be advised," Mr Matthews said.
