The man found dead in Foxton last week was known to police for sexual offending, police have revealed.
A 31-year-old Palmerston North woman entered no plea and was remanded in custody when she appeared in Palmerston North District Court this afternoon on assault and kidnapping charges relating to the man's violent death.
Glen Donald Stinson, 57, also from Palmerston North, was found dead in the driveway of a Wylie Rd, Foxton poultry farm by staff there as they turned up for work about 5.45am on Saturday.
A post-mortem examination showed he died from severe injuries to his head and face.
Police have now confirmed Mr Stinson was known to them for sexual offences.
The woman, from the suburb of Highbury, faces single charges of assault and kidnapping.
During her court appearance today in relation to his death, the woman, from the suburb of Highbury, looked pensive and said nothing.
Judge Gregory Ross ordered that she be remanded in custody to reappear in the court on August 8.
When a request by the woman's counsel, the duty solicitor, for name suppression, was declined, the lawyer said he would appeal.
Judge Ross then ordered an interim suppression until 4pm on Friday, the deadline for the appeal to be lodged.
Today there were significant developments in the case when police sealed off a house in Palmerston North's Andrew Avenue.
Inspector Mark Harrison said police were also speaking to a Palmerston North man who was located in Hamilton this morning.
"The man was in possession of a vehicle that the police have seized and will be examining today," he said.
A forensic examination of the Andrew Avenue house was also under way.
