A man has been found dead in the driveway of a Feilding home.
Police were called to the semi-rural property at about 7.10am when a member of the public made the grisly find.
Police spokeswoman Kim Perks said police believe the man is aged in his early thirties.
She said police would be treating the death as "suspicious" until they could determine how the man died.
Ms Perks said the semi-rural road had been cordoned off and police were investigating.
She said there was no more information available.
A builder who is working on Aorangi Rd said he pulled up at about 7.10am and was "having a yarn" to his partner when police drove past at speed with flashing lights.
The man, who did not want to be named, said he and his partner drove up to a cordon and were told they could not go further.
They were told by a policeman that "it was something major".
"She's all secret squirrel at the moment," the man said.
He said there are about six cars at the scene, as well as unmarked detectives' cars.
