A man has been found dead in a caravan in Canterbury after a strong smell of gas was reported in the area.
Police said emergency services were called to an address in Waipopo Rd in Temuka, north of Timaru, about 2pm.
Firefighters from Timaru, wearing breathing apparatuses, searched the address.
They found a 47-year-old man dead in a caravan on the property.
Police said the man's name would not be released until next of kin have been notified.
