Man found dead in blazing house

The body of a man was found inside a home gutted by fire at Paekakariki, north of Wellington, early today.

Fire brigades and police from Paekakariki and Paraparaumu responded to an emergency call to the blaze at Paneta Street at 5.45am.
Police said the man was found dead when emergency services arrived.

While the 51-year-old had been identified, his name would not be released until all the next of kin had been notified.

Police and fire investigators are still at the scene, and the Paekakariki brigade is still dampening down the gutted home.
