KEY POINTS:
Police say the South Auckland man found dead outside his home yesterday was an apparent heart-attack victim.
Counties Manukau police said tonight preliminary results from a post-mortem showed Maako Kaihe, 30, died of heart failure due to health issues.
But they are also awaiting toxicology reports to be able to fully determine the case of death.
The victim was found about 8am by his partner, lying outside the front door of their Takanini home.
Another man, 29, was discovered unconscious in a vehicle parked at the property.
The second man, not named by police, is reported to have been frothing at the mouth when found.
He was taken to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition but recovered quickly and was discharged.
Police said today the death was being treated as suspicious, but not as a homicide.
Both men had been partying with neighbours in a complex of about a dozen dwellings.
Detective Senior Sergeant Albie Alexander said there was so far no evidence to support media reports the drinks of Mr Kaihe and his associate were spiked.
"At this stage...we have no evidence to confirm that suggestion and we will await toxicology results, due next week, to make any further determination on that matter," he said.
The investigation continues.
