Police are treating the death of a Wellington man, who was found after a fire in an apartment this evening, as unexplained.
The man, in his 40s, was found after emergency services received reports there was a fire in the Arlington Apartments in Hopper Street, central Wellington, and a man was unconscious, police said.
The man was found unconscious in the carpark area of the apartment complex about 6.15pm. CPR was performed but he died at the scene.
Firefighters put out the fire, but a cordon remains in place as the Fire Service and police investigate what happened.
