A Wellington man accused of murdering his wife is fit to stand trial, a Wellington District Court judge has found.
Najeeb Dawood, 51, is charged with murdering Eman Jani Hurmiz, 41, last September 2. Ms Hurmiz died from multiple stab wounds in the driveway of her suburban Strathmore home.
Dawood is also charged with threatening to kill or cause grievous bodily harm, assault with and possession of a weapon, and assault on a child.
The former Iraqi soldier has not pleaded to any of the charges, and has been remanded in a secure psychiatric hospital since September.
He appeared before Judge Denys Barry in Wellington District Court today (Friday) to establish whether he is fit to trial under the Mental Health Act.
