A Rotorua man has admitted filming girls taking showers by placing a hidden pen camera in the bathroom.
Simon Nicolas Plaistowe, 46, pleaded guilty yesterday to 11 charges of making intimate recordings of girls aged between 12 and 17.
He appeared in the Rotorua District Court before Judge Phillip Cooper.
Police had withdrawn a charge of possessing hashish cookies on the basis he pleaded guilty to all other charges.
The charges related to incidents in Rotorua between 2007 and 2009.
Plaistowe admitted setting up a covert camera in a Rotorua bathroom and turning it on when the girls were taking showers and getting changed. Movies and images were found on Plaistowe's computer.
One of his victims, a 17-year-old, told the Daily Post yesterday she was pleased he had admitted his "deviant" behaviour.
She said she had been left fearful of having showers in her home now and had trouble sleeping.
"I just hope he rots in hell because that is all he deserves," she said.
Plaistowe was remanded on bail to reappear in court on February 14 next year for sentencing.
