A man has been airlifted to hospital after falling about 30 metres from the top of Mt Maunganui.
The 63-year-old suffered multiple injuries to his face, eyes, arm, leg and abdomen.
St John ambulance crew treated the man at the scene before he was airlifted by the locally based TrustPower TECT rescue helicopter to Tauranga Hospital, where his injuries were classed as moderate.
The man had been working on walking paths and steps on the top of Mauao (Mt Maunganui) when his wheelbarrow tipped off the track and took him with it.
