Man falls 9m while climbing tree to get his rugby ball

A 21-year-old man suffered a broken jaw and cut to his head this evening when he fell 9m from a tree while trying to recover a rugby ball.

The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was sent to Putaruru after the man fell, hitting several branches on his way down.

He was flown to Waikato Hospital.
