A 62 year old man has been airlifted to hospital after falling 10 metres over a waterfall at Percy's Reserve in Lower Hutt this afternoon.
The accident happened around 3pm.
Wellington Free Ambulance paramedics rescued the man using what's known as a 'rescue wheel' - an over sized wheelbarrow-like device used for transporting patients over rough terrain.
Spokesman Daniel Paul said it appeared the man fell over the waterfall while having some photos taken.
A spokeswoman for Capital and Coast DHB said the man was in stable condition in Wellington Hospital.
