KEY POINTS:
An Upper Hutt man has been charged with sexual violation and burglary after allegedly entering a woman's bedroom last November.
Detective Sergeant Tony Heathcote said the 41-year-old was arrested after a search warrant was executed at a local address.
The incident happened on November 11 when the woman woke to find a man standing over her bed at her Whiteman's Rd property in Silverstream.
Police said she screamed and the man ran out of the house after initially grabbing her.
The man is due in Upper Hutt District Court this afternoon, where he also faces an historic charge involving the 1999 burglary of an Upper Hutt retail store.
"The arrest of this man comes about as a result of extensive work done by ESR Forensic with exhibits and other evidence as well as information provided by the public," Mr Heathcote said.
