Man faces indecency charge

A Hamilton man has been charged with doing an indecent act after allegedly trying to lure a 13-year-old boy into his van in Queenstown last week.

The incident happened outside the Queenstown Events Centre last Friday.

A strong response from members of the public led police to speak with the 36-year-old man yesterday, Detective Grant Millar said.

Police had also found the van the man was allegedly driving.

The man appeared at a bail hearing today in the Invercargill District Court and was remanded in custody until Friday.

Inquiries by police were continuing, Mr Millar said.
