A man is set to stand trial in the Rotorua High Court facing a raft of historical child sex abuse charges.
The 63-year-old former Bay of Plenty man, whose name is suppressed, pleaded not guilty today to 50 charges against him, relating to offending that allegedly occurred from the 1970s to the late 1980s.
The man faces 28 charges of indecencies with a girl under 12, 10 charges of indecencies with a girl between 12 and 16 years and three of rape.
Other charges include four counts of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection, two of assault with intent to commit sexual violation, one of male assaults female and two of assault on a child.
Many of the charges were representative, meaning they allegedly occurred more than once.
