A Rotorua man has appeared in court facing 38 charges involving sexual assaults mostly against children and teenagers over a 20-year period.
The man, who is in his 40s and who has been granted interim name suppression, appeared before Judge Marie McKenzie in the Rotorua District Court yesterday.
He faces 25 charges of indecent assault, nine charges of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection, two charges of doing an indecent act and a charge each of attempted sexual violation by rape and attempted sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection.
The offences are alleged to have been committed in Rotorua between 1991 and this year and there are five female complainants.
Most of the offending relates to when the complainants were children or teenagers.
