A 29-year-old Wanganui man will appear in court later today following a stabbing in the Rangitikei town of Marton yesterday.
The incident occurred outside a hotel in High Street just before 8pm when there was an argument between two men who were believed to know each another, Detective Constable Brett Humphrey of Wanganui police said.
A 50-year-old local man received a single stab wound to the abdomen and was being treated at Wanganui Hospital.
The injury was not believed to be serious.
Later last night a man was arrested at an address in the Wanganui area and was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and threatening to kill, Mr Humphrey said.
He would appear at Wanganui District Court today.
Mr Humphrey said police have not yet found the knife used in the incident.
