Man due in court on murder charge after fatal fight

A man was due in court on a murder charge today after the body of another man was found in a south Auckland house late last night.

The 54-year-old victim was dead when police and ambulance staff arrived at the house in central Manurewa about 11pm. He died after a fight, said police.

Police said another man contacted police later in the night and was arrested today on a murder charge.

The 47-year-old was due to appear in Manukau District Court today.

Police said the dead man and the murder accused may have been known to each other.

The dead man's name would not be released until tomorrow when relatives had been told, said police.
