A man will appear in court today after a relative was stabbed in Dannevirke, 50km north-west of Palmerston North, early yesterday morning.
Emergency services were called to a house in Dublin Street at 1.10am to reports of a stabbing, police said.
They found a 22-year-old man who lived at the house with a stab wound to the abdomen.
He was airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
His condition was satisfactory this morning.
A 25-year-old who also lived at the house was arrested and charged with assault but would likely face more charges, police said.
He would appear in Palmerston North District Court today.
