One man has been arrested and another is in hospital with stab wounds to his chest after a domestic incident near Taumarunui last night.
A 41-year-old man had to be airlifted to Waikato Hospital after receiving the stab wounds during a dispute at a rural property on Taumarunui-Ngapuke Road last night.
The injured man was in a stable condition this morning.
Police and an ambulance were called to the man's home on the Taumarunui-Ngapuke Road about 9.52pm with reports of a fight involving weapons.
A police central communications spokesman said the man, bleeding from chest and stomach wounds, was found and taken to Taumarunui Hospital.
Just after midnight the Westpac Waikato air ambulance flew an emergency retrieval team to Taumarunui to move the man, who suffered a punctured lung, to Waikato Hospital.
Police say a 36-year-old man is likely to appear in Taumarunui District Court on assault charges today.
An investigation into the incident is continuing.
