Man drowns on 90 Mile Beach

A male has drowned on Ninety Mile Beach in the Far North today.

Ambulance staff had tried to revive him after he was pulled from the water at Ahipara Bay, 14km southeast of Kaitaia, but were unsuccessful, Senior Sergeant Chris Money of police northern communications said.

Police were alerted about 3.40pm, he said.
