Man drowns off Opua Wharf in Far North

A man has drowned near a wharf in the Bay of Islands.

Police rushed to the scene around 1.50pm when the man was spotted in the water. He could unfortunately not be revived.

Officers are working to contact the man's next of kin.

A police spokeswoman said the death wasn't thought to be suspicious.
