Man drowns in Southland while snorkelling

A 68 year-old-man has drowned at Wakapatu Beach, Kawakaputa Bay, Southland this evening about 5.30pm.

The man was snorkelling at the time and was located on the surface about 100 metres out from shore.

The death is being referred to the Coroner.
