KEY POINTS:
A man drowned while swimming at Karaka Bay, Glendowie, yesterday.
Inspector Earl McIntosh of the police northern communication centre said two members of the public fought to save the man's life but he was found dead in the water about 3.30pm.
It was not known how the man got into difficulty in the water.
