KEY POINTS:
A Far North man whose body was found among rocks at Shipwreck Bay at the southern end of Ninety Mile Beach on Sunday has been identified as Ben Mitcalfe, 32, a local man from nearby Ahipara.
Post-mortem results showed Mr Mitcalfe died from drowning after he slipped and fell from rocks into the sea.
Northland crime manager Detective Inspector Mike Pannett said police were not looking for anyone else in relation to the death. He said Mr Mitcalfe had last been seen leaving a function at Ahipara late on Saturday night.
"He obviously came to grief while walking home at night. He's slipped on rocks and fallen into the sea."
