Police are likely to resume their search today for a man who is feared drowned after his empty dinghy was found at Port Taranaki on Saturday.
The dinghy was found floating near the end of a wharf on Saturday morning, with all the man's gear, including his lunch, chilly bin, fishing rods and bait.
New Plymouth police said the 53-year-old man had been seen rowing the boat about half an hour earlier.
Constable Andrew Stilton today told NZPA police searched the area by boat and helicopter on Saturday and yesterday, along with the police dive squad from Wellington.
Mr Stilton said police would reassess the situation today, with some form of search likely.
