A 43-year-old man died from a bacterial infection two weeks after he was seriously assaulted in the West Auckland suburb of Ranui.
Waitakere Police are now reviewing the circumstances of the assault and the events that led to the man's death at the coroner's request
The alleged assault occurred on November 17, but police said he did not seek medical attention at the time
After feeling unwell, the man was eventually taken to Auckland Hospital by ambulance on November 28, after a friend became concerned for his well-being.
His condition deteriorated, and he died from a bacterial infection on December 3.
