Man dies in Wanganui house fire

Police and Fire Service investigations are continuing into a fatal house fire in Wanganui this morning.

Police confirmed this afternoon that an elderly man's body was recovered from the property in the residential suburb of Aramoho.

A Fire Service central communications spokesman said firefighters were called to the house at 8.15am.

The fire, which was contained to a bedroom, was quickly extinguished.

The man was found but could not be revived.
