KEY POINTS:
A person is dead following a fire in a shed in the lower North Island town of Marton.
Firefighters were called to a Milne Street property early this morning after explosions were heard.
After the fire was extinguished a body was found.
Wellington Fire Service shift manager Mike Wanoa said firefighters described the shed as "well engulfed in flames".
Police and the fire service are investigating.
