A man died early this morning when he was thrown from his four-wheel-drive vehicle and landed on the road on State Highway 1 near Huntly.
The 42-year-old man was not wearing a seatbelt when his northbound Toyota Surf left the road and rolled at Rangiriri, 16km north of Huntly, Sergeant Mark Toomey of Huntly said in a statement.
The man was thrown about 40m.
Police are investigating speed as a possible cause of the crash.
The man's name will not be released until his family have been notified.
