A man was killed and a woman injured when a Cook Strait ferry and a small boat collided near Picton about 7.30 last night.
A Maritime Safety Authority spokesman said a body from the 10m runabout had been recovered about 1km from Picton wharf.
The Bluebridge ferry Santa Regina picked up an injured woman who was later admitted to hospital in Blenheim with moderate injuries.
A spokesman for Bluebridge ferry owner Straits Shipping told National Radio the runabout had hit the ferry.
